Meet Mari Chu

Mari Chu is of Chinese descent, born and raised in Peru, where Spanish is her native language. In addition to Spanish, Mari is fluent in English and conversational in both Cantonese and Mandarin. Mari received a strong academic foundation in Spanish through her elementary, middle, and high school education in Peru. Mari continued her studies with two years of higher education at Antenor Orrego Private University in Peru before moving to New York City, where she earned a Bachelor of Arts in Communication from Baruch College, with minors in Psychology and Spanish Translation.

Mari’s multicultural background and language skills have shaped her ability to connect with people from diverse communities and navigate cross-cultural environments with ease.

As a paralegal, Mari has extensive experience in both affirmative and defensive asylum cases, working with adult immigrants as well as unaccompanied minors. Mari is also experienced in handling family-based petitions and Special Immigrant Juvenile Status (SIJS) petitions for submission to the New Jersey Superior Courts.

Mari enjoys traveling, immersing in different cultures, and exploring new cuisines in her free time.
