Navigating the immigration system can feel overwhelming—especially when you’re trying to find accurate, up-to-date information. Below are trusted government resources you can use to check your case status, locate detainees, and manage required filings.


Case Status & Court Information

Automated Case Information System (ACIS) – Immigration Court

https://acis.eoir.justice.gov/en/

If you are currently in immigration court (removal proceedings), you can use this system to check important updates about your case.

What you’ll need:

  • A-number (Alien Registration Number)

  • Country of birth

What you can find:

  • Next hearing date

  • Appeal status (if applicable)

This tool is only for individuals with active cases in immigration court.

Detainee & Custody Information

ICE Detainee Locator

https://locator.ice.gov/odls/#/search

This system helps you locate individuals who may be in ICE custody.

What you’ll need:

  • A-number and country of birth

What you can find:

  • Detention facility location

  • Contact information for the facility

USCIS Online Case Status

https://egov.uscis.gov/

Use this tool to check the status of your immigration application with USCIS.

What you’ll need:

  • Receipt number (found on Form I-797)

What you can find:

  • Current case status

  • Updates on your application

Fee Payment Portals

Annual Asylum Fee – Immigration Court (EOIR)

This portal is used to pay the Annual Asylum Fee (AAF) for cases pending in immigration court.

Important:

  • Applies to asylum applications pending for 1+ year

  • Only applies to cases filed after October 1, 2024

  • Only for individuals in removal proceedings

USCIS Case Status Inquiry (e-Request)

https://egov.uscis.gov/e-request/ccpt

If your case is taking longer than expected, you can submit an inquiry directly to USCIS.

What you’ll need:

  • Receipt number

  • Basic identifying information

Use this when:

  • Your case is outside normal processing times

  • You need to request updates or corrections

Annual Asylum Fee - USCIS

Use this portal if your asylum case is pending with USCIS.

Important:

  • USCIS will notify you in writing if payment is required

  • Do not pay unless instructed
