Meet Jordan A. Winkler, Esq
After years of working for private law firms specializing in immigration matters, Jordan found an opportunity to better serve communities by meeting clients where they are. Jordan's passion for communities has always been at the core of his humanitarian efforts to support those who have immigrated to the United States with little understanding of the United States immigration system. In January 2024, Jordan began routinely hosting clinics in various communities to educate clients to better understand and navigate the vast immigration processes.
Jordan is the youngest son in a family of four children raised by two native New Yorkers from immigrant families. Growing up, Jordan’s mother—an elementary school teacher—instilled the values of kindness, compassion, and a love of others, which Jordan employs in the everyday practice of law. Jordan’s late father was the son of a businessman from New York who had built a modest yellow cab company into a midsized black car agency. Jordan credits his father for instilling the tenets of determination and taking pride in his work.
Educational Background and Specialty
Jordan earned a bachelor’s degree in political science and Spanish from Albright College in Reading, Pennsylvania. At Albright, Jordan gained an appreciation and love of the law and helping others. During his studies, Jordan traveled abroad to Ecuador, where he homed in his Spanish-speaking skills, which has proved invaluable in the practice of grassroots immigration law. Jordan returned to Albright College as an adjunct professor in the Political Science department for the Spring 2023 semester.
Jordan earned his Juris Doctorate from Widener University Delaware Law School and immediately began learning the ins and outs of the federal immigration legal system. With an early interest in asylum law, Jordan has successfully litigated asylum cases on behalf of clients from Guinea, Senegal, Mauritania, Guatemala, Mexico, the Dominican Republic, and the Czech Republic.
Jordan also has extensive experience in federal bankruptcy law, including assisting in the litigation of a $9.5 million fraudulent transfer matter before the United States Bankruptcy Court for the Western District of New York, in which a favorable result was achieved. Jordan uses this knowledge and experience in immigration appellate practice, including drafting and arguing appellate briefs before the Board of Immigration Appeals (“BIA”) and the Third Circuit Court of Appeals. In 2021, Jordan helped achieve a favorable remand back to an immigration judge after a lengthy appeals process before the BIA and the Third Circuit Court of Appeals.
